I believe our approach is what sets us apart from other non profit organizations.
First: We are not employed by Greater Works. No individual party profits in any way from this organization. This allows us to give 100% of the money we raise, with your help, directly to each project.
Second: "It has yet to be seen what can be done for man kind if no one is concerned with who gets the credit. We are proud to partner with anyone who is giving all they have to make a difference.
Third: Our goal is to deal with communities in sustainable ways. Providing solutions based on their needs, not what is sexy or what we in the west think they need. We do this
by going there, being on the ground and working with local resources to develop the economy.
Fourth: We use the resources of the entire Greater Works community. If you are an engineer or a dentist, a school teacher or musician, we count on our cohort to help us change the lives of people in these desperate areas. If you think a plumber cannot help change the world, just ask the people of Kilibri, Rwanda. Derek and I will be there in late February of 2010. Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation causes 80% of all sickness and disease, and kills more people every year than all forms of violence including war. Right now we are working to develop a sustainable water well, reservoir and sanitation system for these people: our neighbors.
Fifth: We will only take on projects that empower each community, not make them dependent on our help. We celebrate each unique culture and history and desire for difference to flourish. By providing lasting sustainable solutions, we give more than a cure for disease or education; we give a father honor, a village pride, a mother hope and a child future.
As the co founder of Greater Works, I can tell you that we really are just two young dudes and one beautiful chick. We are entrepreneur and minister, marketing director and friend alike.
The world is shrinking daily. For my grandfather, his neighbors were those who lived on his dirt road. No one went hungry and no child died unnecessarily. As a minister, I believe that the same spirit lives in each one of us. When my neighbor suffers, my community suffers, my family suffers and I suffer. Much differently than Papa, I grew up in a world post google. A beautiful global society, inter-related, inter-connected and inter-dependent.
Greater works is not about notching my belt or fulfilling my religious duty. Greater Works is about loving my neighbor as myself. My neighbors are dying by the millions, but together with your help, a couple of dudes and one beautiful chick are gonna save some lives.
Your Neighbor,
Christopher B. Dixon, President
